Our Focus
Leadership and Confidence
CanU builds positive relationships with students, and through our mentors, children are instilled with a sense of confidence to set goals and the hope to see those goals through. This is done by providing students with the opportunity to see their own ability to achieve significant academic and athletic things, set goals, create, explore, and succeed.
Hope and Resilience
CanU is an organization that inspires Hope and Resilience within our participants and their dream of a post-secondary education. We do this by providing fun, creative and interactive academic experiences on post-secondary campuses with post-secondary volunteers as mentors. Our organization thrives on interpersonal contact with our participants, and in response to COVID-19, CanU had to adapt and innovate to continue our CanU dream.
Health and Wellness
CanU strives to cultivate healthy, well-rounded, economically self-sufficient future leaders through a holistic approach which includes complementary nutrition, fitness, academic and mentoring program components. CanU provides a comprehensive nutrition program that teaches participants about making healthy choices, how to prepare healthy foods, and how to find the best options in the grocery store or supermarket. Using tactile experiences, CanU participants leave the program excited to share the recipes they have learned with their family and possibly friends, spreading the positive and healthy impact left by CanU''s nutrition component.
Learning and Academics
CanU’s out-of-school mentorship platform allows youth to participate in weekly educational experiences on post-secondary campuses to further develop academic, personal health, wellness, social and leadership skills. This has been accomplished by partnering with individual school educators and principals, university faculties and department professors, and university and college students across Manitoba campuses.
